soc roc mission

The goal of SocRoc is to encourage kids to be physically active, gain confidence and learn social skills while having fun. As a certified personal trainer for eight years and a former professional soccer player, I have combined my two areas of expertise to create one of the most unique and creative fitness programs available for Manhattan’s youth.

SocRoc sessions will last 45 minutes to one hour. Not only will the students learn soccer from a former pro, but they will also develop core strength, upper and lower body strength, as well as flexibility, endurance and excellent posture.

Today, children are spending too much time watching television, playing video games and eating junk food. Child obesity is on the rise while self-confidence and overall health is on the decline. The ongoing mission of SocRoc is to fight these serious problems every step of the way.

Slawek Balon was born and raised in Poland. Soccer is one of those things he has enjoyed doing since he can remember. He began playing this amazing sport almost as soon as he began walking J. He played anywhere he could and at anytime (as custom for any “European”).

Slawek Balon’s soccer career has been continuing for more than 15 years. He played soccer in the First Division, Fort Hamilton High School Soccer Team as well as in the Third Division, John Jay College Soccer Team, where he received many awards. In addition, Slawek has also played on the Fort Hamilton High School Volleyball Team for three years and during his senior year he was the assistance coach for both the Volleyball and Soccer Teams. Slawek has been working with kids, ages 2-12, for over a year.
